Let The Hair Games Begin

Hairstyles are a way of creating a Beauty statement. A person’s hairstyle can tell you a lot about their image and personality and create great first impressions. But in this busy life who has the time to spend hours on their hair? We definitely don’t! Which is why we brought for you the Beauty Hooked’s 5 Hairstyles in 5 Minutes challenge on our snapchat (@beauty.hooked).

 

2 of our Hair Pro followers took on this challenge to compete against each other, and show you how to create 5 different 5 minute hairstyles. Each hairstylist brought their unique element into the looks that were styled, so now it’s up to you to decide which hairstylist should win this competition! Scroll down to learn how they created some very quick daily wear looks and vote for your FIRST lady in the comment box below.

The dynamic sister-duo created the following 5 looks:

Look 1: Dino Braid

You will need:

  • Rat tail comb
  • Bobby pins
  • Elastics

Steps:

  • Make a V line, so it’s going to be small in the front and as you go further out it’s going to go wider.
  • Start from here and go a little further out you reach the crown of the head.
  • Grab that piece of hair and from the other section and go further out from here till you reach the crown of the head.
  • Separate the hair.
  • Grab a section of the hair from the crown and tie the rest of the hair on one side.
  • Further section the separated hair and divide it into 3 pieces and make a regular braid.
  • Add a strand from the right section into the braid and a strand from the left section and continue braiding until you’ve reached the crown of the head.
  • Take elastic and tie the braid.
  • Spread the braid out a little bit so it’s not too tight and give it a little volume with your fingers.
  • Take the open section of the hair, twist it and wrap it.
  • Make it a little messy because it doesn’t have to look neat.


Look 2: Side Braids

Things You Need:

  • Elastic

Steps:

  • Braid your hair like a regular braid
  • Make sure to leave little bit of section down hair
  • Continue making the braid
  • Now turn to the other side and grab the section that was left off, grab it and tie the extra strands of hair with an elastin with a little point there


Look 3: Space Buns

Things You Need:

  • Bobby Pins

Steps:

  • Section your hair on both sides.
  • Twist them up and wrap it around on the crown of the head.
  • Now on the other side, comb it through and twist it.
  • We’re just gonna twist this and wrap it around.


Look 4: Upside Down Braided Bun

Things You Need:

  • Bobby Pins

Steps:

  • Take a section from the left side and the right side.
  • Twist this section into a bun.
  • Pin it and pull it.


Look 5:  Job Interview/Office Look

Things You Need:

  • Hair straightener
  • Elastic

Steps:

  • Section one part of your on the left and right side.
  • Then section the hair on the opposite side and pull it to the back to the nape the sections from both the sides.
  • Now we’re going to open the hair from the crown and straighten the bits of the hair.
  • Lift this section from the crown and back comb it a little to give it a lift.

The solo hairstylist created the following 5 looks:

Look 1: Waterfall Braid

You Need:

  • Hair pins
  • Rat Tail Comb

Steps:

  • Take 3 strands of hair from the front section, starting from your hair line.
  • Cross the strand closest to the top of your head over the middle section.
  • Cross the bottom section over the new middle section.
  • Cross the new top section over the new middle, and then the bottom over the middle.
  • Drop the middle strand down, so it blends in with the rest of your hair.
  • Pick up a piece about the same size from near your part.
  • This strand becomes your new top section—cross it over the middle to continue the braid.
  • Cross the bottom strand over the new section, and repeat steps 2-8 all the way around your head.
  • When you get behind your opposite ear, do a normal, three-strand braid for about an inch.
  • Use a pin to secure the braid behind your ear.

 

Look 2: Triplet Inside Out Pony Tail

You Need:

  • Elastics
  • Rat Tail Comb

Steps:

  • Section off the top half of your hair and secure with elastic. This is where your Inside-Out Pony will start.
  • Pull the elastic out slightly to loosen. Grab another layer of hair from either side (like a french braid) and add to the flipped ponytail.
  • Secure thicker ponytail with another elastic.
  • Gently part the hair, creating a space to flip the pony up and through.
  • Loosen up the flipped point to give it some texture
  • Repeat the same step one more time

 

Look 3: Bun with Side Braids

You Need:

  • Bobby Pin
  • Hair pins
  • Rat Tail Comb

Steps:

  • Take all of your hair from the front and secure them in a soft bun on the crown
  • Secure the bun using bobby pins or bun pins
  • Now from the left side, take a section of your hair from the hairline and make a regular braid till the end
  • Repeat the same steps on the side of your head
  • Once you are done braiding, roll the braid around the bun and secure it with a pin


Look 4: Side Flat Twist

You Need:

  • Bobby Pin
  • Hair pins
  • Rat Tail Comb

Steps:

  • Part your hair to one side (whichever side you’re comfortable with)
  • Now on the opposite side take a section and divide it into two parts and start twisting it to the back of your hair
  • When you reach the end of the hair secure it with a pin
  • Now take another section and divide it into two twisting it to the back of your hair till they are secured at the nape
  • Repeat the above mentioned steps until you have the desired number of twists
  • Let your hair loose from the other side


Look 5: Dutch Braid With A Bun

You Need:

  • Bobby Pin
  • Hair pins
  • Rat Tail Comb

Steps:

  • Start by taking a section from the top of the head.
  • Separate this section into 3 strands crossing right over middle and then left over middle
  • Keep adding hair strands from both right and left side into the braid
  • Continue braiding until you reach the nape
  • Loosen up the braid a little bit
  • Secure the bun using bobby pins or bun pins
